We recently moved office at work and the new building has a lovely fresh feeling to it. There is lots of light, both natural and artificial and the walls are all panted in a very crisp fresh white with a fresh lime green as an accent colour. A few of the staff have indoor potted plants growing at their workstations, which add to the lovely feel of the space. I really wanted to have a plant of my own but there was one serious flaw in the idea, I kill plants! It’s not like I try to kill them or that I only kill sensitive plants, I genuinely kill any plant I look after! I was determined not to let this small flaw, ruin my plan and decided to think a little creatively. If I can’t keep live plants then artificial plants would have to do! I didn’t want to just get a plastic plant, I wanted something a little more lively, something with a little more soul. So, I thought I would make myself some flowers. I have the perfect blank wall next to my desk to display something sweet! (more…)
As you may already know, I LOVE free stuff!!! The offer of something for free makes me feel like it’s my birthday. I get as excited as a child opening their birthday gifts, and sometimes I even squeal in delight. I have issues, I know that.
One of the awesome things about being a crafter has to be the abundance of amazingly useful printables. Thank goodness for the internet! The greatest thing about the internet + printables combination is that there are SO many FREE ones available!!!! So if you are feeling crafty but you don’t want to go to the craft store for supplies, or said craft store is closed (due to it being 10 o’clock at night) or you are a little strapped for cash, you can jump on the computer find a fun printable and away you go. Another great thing about printables is that they are usually things that you can do with young children.
I have built up a list of websites that have heaps of great printables and I thought I would share this list with you. These are the 7 best websites for FREE printables. Some of these printables are for crafts, some are for around the house and some are activities that you can do with young children. Have a look through them and let me know which ones you like best! Do you recall back in August last year I wrote about birthday cakes that we wanted as a child? For me the ultimate cake was a Dolly Varden cake, I always thought they were just so magical and beautiful! Well guess what?? I finally got the opportunity to make one J I was asked by a customer to make a Frozen themed cake for his daughter’s birthday and of course her favorite character is Elsa. So, the obvious choice for me was an Elsa Dolly Varden cake. I spent a lot of time and energy on the Frozen Elsa Doll Birthday Cake, as the little Birthday girl Miss V is such a sweet little girl. The birthday girl loved it so all the time and effort was worth it! I was pretty impressed with how well it turned out.
A few months ago I shared with you my first attempt at Making a Ruffled Buttercream Frosting Cake. Since then I have been scouring Youtube for more ruffled buttercream cake ideas and I fell in LOVE with this gorgeous ruffle! I just couldn’t wait to try it out. Luckily, I didn’t have to wait too long, it was my lovely friend Mrs K’s birthday earlier this month and of course I just had to make her a cake to help celebrate!!
Last week, I showed you how to make a Memory Catcher and in that project I used a rustic style white frame. I looked everywhere for the perfect frame and I couldn’t find what I was after. Unfortunately, it wasn’t until after I made the Memory Catcher that I found this frame. So I made my own! I didn’t make the actual frame (I did not have time to do that) but I gave a simple cheap black plastic frame into my perfect frame! Guess what? It was SO easy to do and because I am totally awesome and I love you all so much, I am going to tell you how I did it! Get ready to do your own picture frame makeover.
Last week, I wrote about New Year’s Resolutions and shared with you some of my more crafty/creative ones and how I was planning on keeping on track with them this year. I mentioned that I also had a selection of personal resolutions, there is one in particular that I have put a lot of thought into and wanted to share with you; Savoring the positive memories of 2015 to assist in being a more positive person and to help me really live in the moment. I thought that this might not be a resolution that not only I had, perhaps my tools to help me do this might help you too.
The start of the New Year brings with it New Year Resolutions. That list of things that we should have done last year, or the year before that, or the one before that… Year after year, the lists seems to be the same, except for a few additions. In the past I, like many others, made resolutions and given up on upholding them as resolutions before the end of January. Mine are usually rather generic; Look after myself better, lose weight and be a kinder person. All very vague and lack any real thought or effort. This year, I’ll be doing something a little different. I am going to stay on track with a New Year Resolution Planner. I have put one together and I have shared it below for you for FREE.
I hope you and your loved ones had a fantastic Christmas yesterday. I have been melting in the Queensland, Australian heat! I sure was dreaming of a white Christmas. But alas Santa didn’t make it snow in Brisbane this year 🙁
