FROZEN Elsa Doll Birthday Cake

FROZEN Elsa Doll Birthday Cake by Eclectic Handmade Creations

Do you recall back in August last year I wrote about birthday cakes that we wanted as a child? For me the ultimate cake was a Dolly Varden cake, I always thought they were just so magical and beautiful! Well guess what?? I finally got the opportunity to make one J I was asked by a customer to make a Frozen themed cake for his daughter’s birthday and of course her favorite character is Elsa. So, the obvious choice for me was an Elsa Dolly Varden cake.  I spent a lot of time and energy on the Frozen Elsa Doll Birthday Cake, as the little Birthday girl Miss V is such a sweet little girl. The birthday girl loved it so all the time and effort was worth it! I was pretty impressed with how well it turned out.

A few months ago I shared with you my first attempt at Making a Ruffled Buttercream Frosting Cake. Since then I have been scouring Youtube for more ruffled buttercream cake ideas and I fell in LOVE with this gorgeous ruffle! I just couldn’t wait to try it out. Luckily, I didn’t have to wait too long, it was my lovely friend Mrs K’s birthday earlier this month and of course I just had to make her a cake to help celebrate!!

A few weeks ago, it was my beautiful friend Mrs V’s birthday. Her amazing husband planned a fabulous day of girly activities for us ladies to celebrate her special day. We had a lovely lunch at a local cafe, followed by shopping, pedicures and all ending in a relaxing Sunday afternoon session of canapés, cocktails, and of course CAKE! Knowing how much Mrs V loves my cakes her husband asked if I could whip one up just for her and of course, I obliged, it was after all for the beautiful Mrs V!

A slice of romance and happiness

There isn’t anything that I can say about love that isn’t going to sound like a cliché mess, so I am going to completely sidestep that aspect of today’s topic. Weddings and similar ceremonies are events that I can really get behind! I LOVED every moment of planning, organising and experience of my wedding some 4ish years ago. I have LOVED the marriage and my Mr Hubby even more, so as not to make you lose your breakfast, lunch and/or dinner I’ll stop myself there, but only because I like you and don’t want you to feel sick.

A yummy slice of the past

As a child, the birthday cake was the essence of celebration. Something we looked forward to every year. We would spend days leading up to our birthday drooling over the birthday cake cookbook. There would always be the ‘it’ cake that every year you would beg for and every year you would be denied and as a child you didn’t understand that your desired cake was ridiculously hard and a busy mum just doesn’t have the time or patience to attempt it. When the cake was finally decided upon, Mum would then spend hours on end in the kitchen to make the perfect cake for us. Do you remember the castle cake with ice-cream cone towers, the swimming pool cake with blue jelly water and the cho-cho train and its cute little carriages, or maybe you were lucky enough to get a Dolly Varden cake with skirt glamorously decorated in shiny silver and gold cachous.
