Happy Halloween!

You’ve picked out your costume. You have decorated your home into a house of horror, or just a little spooky to keep it child friendly and fun. All that you have left to do is put out the party food and drink. There are a few quick and easy food and drink recipes in my Halloween Party Ideas post a few weeks ago, but I thought I would show you a few of the things that I prepared for Halloween this year.

Ghost Strawberries

You will need;

  • Fresh strawberries
  • White chocolate
  • Milk/Dark chocolate drops

To make them;

  1. Melt the white chocolate, I found that it’s easiest to break up the chocolate into a tall glass and melt it in the microwave in short bursts of about 20 seconds , you want the chocolate to be only just melted; runny but thick, be careful not to melt it to the point of being super runny and hot or the process will be slow, messy and painful
  2. Dip the strawberries into the melted chocolate completely covering them (except for the leafy stem thing)
  3. Let the excess drain off
  4. Place them on a sheet of cling wrap
  5. Put them in the fridge to harden
  6. You may need to do a second coat of chocolate depending on how runny your chocolate was – if it is too runny it just runs straight off, put in fridge to harden
  7. Using a little bit of melted chocolate stick the milk/dark chocolate drops onto the strawberries to look like ghost eyes and mouth.

Ghost Bananas

You will need;

  • Bananas
  • White Chocolate
  • Milk or dark chocolate
  • Pop sticks (optional)

To make them;

  1. Melt the white chocolate, I found that it’s easiest to break up the chocolate into a tall glass and melt it in the microwave in short bursts of about 20 seconds
  2. Peal the bananas and cut them into two – not lengthways like a banana split
  3. If you wish to use pop sticks dip the end in the chocolate and insert into the cut base of the banana halves – I had trouble getting the cake pop sticks to work and think that the popsicle sticks would work better.
  4. Repeat the steps listed in the ghost strawberries

Mummy Strawberries

You will need;

  • Fresh strawberries
  • White chocolate
  • Milk/Dark chocolate drops

To make them;

  1. Repeat steps 1 to 6 of the ghost strawberries
  2. Stick on eyes (like step 7 of the ghosts) but do not stick of a mouth
  3. For the mummies bandages you will need to add stripes of melted white chocolate by either;
    • Poring the melted chocolate into a piping bag with a small tip or a zip-locked snack bag with a very small tip of one corner cut off, or
    • Drip the melted chocolate on using a spoon
  4. With either method crisscross the lines a little and have fun with it, don’t be perfect with it, you want it to look like a terrifying mummy not a zebra

Mummy Bananas

You will need;

  • Bananas
  • White Chocolate
  • Milk or dark chocolate
  • Pop sticks (optional)

To make them;

  1. Prepare the bananas the same as the ghosts except only apply eyes not a mouth
  2. Repeat steps 3 and 4 of the mummy strawberries to get the mummy look.

 Witches Potion

Eclectic Handmade Creations - Witches Potion

This quick and easy punch not only looks like witches potion, complete with popping eye of newt, but also tastes great!

You will need;

  • Apple Juice
  • Soda water or lemonade
  • Green food colouring
  • Frozen blueberries

  1. Mix equal parts apple juice and soda water or lemonade
  2. Add a few drops of food colouring, until you get to your desired colour
  3. Drop in the frozen blueberries

How easy is that! If you like your potion a little stronger you can always add some sparkling white wine and some vodka to give the potion that extra kick!
